VELOCIGRAPPLER Kids Program

Our kids’ program, the VelociGrapplers, is designed to channel energy into discipline, confidence, and skill.

Just like their name suggests, these students learn to move with speed and direction; gaining focus, respect, and resilience on the mats.

Class Breakdown: 

Ages 4–7:

Playful drills that strengthen fundamentals and smoothly transition kids into the 8–12 age class. Perfect for little ones with big energy.

Ages 8–12:

Structured, age-appropriate grappling fundamentals that emphasize discipline, teamwork, and decision-making.

Real self-defense skills taught with patience and care

A healthy outlet for energy and stress

Safe, clean, family-friendly environment

Builds confidence that carries into school and life

VelociGrappler Belt System

Kids Belt System

Every child begins at white belt and It represents the start of their journey. The white belt isn’t just about being new, it’s about building the foundation to grow on and off the mats. At this stage your child will learn: ~The fundamentals of movement, balance and basic techniques ~ Respect, discipline, and focus ~ How to be a good teammate and train safely.

The gray belt is the first big step for your child after white belt. It shows they have been consistent in training, usually 1-2 years, have moved beyond the beginner stage and are starting to build real skills on the mat. There are three gray belts/ gray-white, solid gray and gray-black. The minimum age to earn a gray belt is 5 years old. At this stage your child will learn: ~Combining techniques instead of relying on single moves ~Improve their balance, control, and escapes ~Develop confidence through consistent training ~Show dedication, focus, and respect in class.

The orange belt is a major milestone in your child’s journey. It shows they have moved past the early stages and are now recognized as an intermediate student. It shows dedication over 3-4+ years and has a growing understanding of strategy. It represents dedication, steady progress and proof that hand work on the mats is shaping their skills and their character. There are three orange belts/ orange-white, solid orange and orange-black. The minimum age to earn a orange belt is 7 years old. At this stage your child will learn: ~More advanced techniques and combinations ~Better control, balance, and timing ~Continued dedication, focus, and respect in class ~Responsibility as a role model for newer students.

The yellow belt is an advanced stage in your child’s journey. It shows dedication over 4-6 years and is developing a deeper understanding of both technique and strategy. There are three yellow belts/ yellow-white, solid yellow and yellow-black. The minimum age to earn an yellow belt is 10 years old. At this stage your child will learn: ~Applying chains of techniques and thinking several moves ahead ~Show strong control and awareness in both offense and defense ~Grow into leaders on the mat, often helping younger students ~Build confidence and resilience that carries into school and daily life.

The green belt is the highest rank in the kid’s belt system and the last step before moving to the adult belt system at age 16. It shows dedication over 6-8 years of dedication and depending on the skills developed will be promoted to blue or purple belt. There are three green belts/ green-white, solid green and green-black. The minimum age to earn a green belt is 13 years old. Typically, kids hold a green belt between 13-15 years old. At this stage your child will learn: ~Refining their techniques with precision and strategy ~Being a role model for younger teammates ~Preparing mentally and physically to enter the adult belt system.
